Orange chicken & Szechuan green beans
We would all loooove to have a complex, 5 star, restaurant dish every night of the week, BUT we are only human. And as my mom’s favorite song, when I was little goes: “ IM NOT YOUR SUPER WOMANNNNN”. So this is the PERFECT recipe for weeknights after a long day of work or school or running around. This is very much takeout but BETTER!
INGREDIENTS
(Ingredients listed below are for a single serving)
1/2 bag of Trader Joe’s Mandarin Orange chicken
1 handful of green beans
1 tablespoon of neutral oil (for green beans)
1/2 cup of neutral oil (to shallow fry the chicken. Depending on the size of your pan; the oil should not fully cover chicken i.e. deep fry.)
2 tablespoons of garlic
1/4 cup of soy sauce
1 teaspoon of chili crisp (Like the ‘Fly by Jing’ brand)
1/3 cup of slice scallions for garnish
1/2 teaspoon of sesame seed
1 cup of your rice of choice (fried rice, jasmine rice etc)
DIRECTIONS
GREEN BEANS:
Wash and pat dry green beans.
Cut the ends off both side of the bean.
Add oil and than green beans to a medium-high heated skillet. Cook the beans until you see a char and blistering on the the beans.
Turn off the heat and add soy sauce, garlic and chili crisp (to your personal taste and heat tolerance b/c this stuff can get spicy).
ORANGE CHICKEN
Take the bag of Trader’s Joes chicken out the freeze (or at least the portion you will be cooking) 15-20 mins ahead of time.
Add the chicken to the heated oil and cook each side for 2-4 mins or until browned and crunchy.
Remove chicken from the heat and packed sauce to chicken.
Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced scallions
Serve!
